Our new windows finally arrived from Dyke’s Lumber in Brooklyn. We went for the black exterior frame and natural wood interior. Ryan with the help of Señor Mendez and one other fellow framed and installed the windows. I went to Home Depot and bought some last minute supplies (Shims! Wood screws! Umm… lumber and plywood.) After a ½ day the window were in! We realized that we needed window frames (flashing) on the outside that has to be custom bent, so some waterproof window sealing tape is stopping the rain for now. Here are some photos of before and during! Final after photos to follow.

Dear Leda and Ryan,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for mentionning you at your blogpost! So now I discovered your blog! Your house will look beautiful if you use all the inspirational pictures from all the blogs you visit! Great!
About your question to give your floor the look of the ones in that Belgian house, I would say this : treat the wood with amoniac (watch out: breathtaking!!) and if it is dry, than you have to treat it with eau de javel. And take your time to let it dry. If you want to have it more gray, than a second treat with eau de javel! Don't tell it anyone! Ha ha!! Success you two!!
xx
